I was just on live aquaria looking at some of the cat sharks. They said it was expert level only. What makes sharks expers only? Is it because they are so large and require large species type aquaria? Or is it because they only eat food that is typically not as available as small fish food? Maybe because they are so agressive and can bite/harm you? Or are they just that hard to take care of and require the most stringent of water quality etc...?

probably all those reasons you've mentioned. They require large preferably circular housing, controlling waste output from such a large predator requires either a very large system or lots of equipment. they are also more than likely labelling them as expert level only so as to discourage people from thinking they can keep them in their 300g aquariums...
