I bought 2 shaving hair brush blants and got 4 from a b.o.g.o. 7 weeks ago or so... I'm down to 2 and the last two are turning all white like the others did. Now I know yellow tang and sail fin tang nips at them but they never seem to loose there leaves they just turn white and then they get bare. I'm not dosing iron for the maco just good old weekly wc. Nitrates are high all else seems Normal corals are great ,fish great. I got these to help battle nitrates cause can't get them out. I've noticed my sump gets dirty fast. So I've started to vac the bottom of sump to keep clean. Seems everything settles there. Been lowering nitrates well. I'm going to get some chaeto soon but don't want that to die. Another thing is my fire clam/ scallop doesn't open like I want he partial opens and was told that's because he may not be having to work very hard to be fed because I do have lots of pods in the water for pod eaters and they breed like crazy and I spot feed him sometimes thinking maybe he will open up or is he not loking the nitrates there high yet but coming down!
