Shifting sand

Does it matter that my sand is getting moved about to the extent that the bottom of the tank is exposed in some places? Whilst not aesthetically pleasing is there any other reason I should be concerned?

I've found that much shifting of the sand in my tank is
coming from the fish themself.

Unless it's making your rockscape unstable, it shouldn't be a serious problem.

Am going to buy some more sand next week. Have tweaked the wave maker so hopefully will stop moving sand.

I just sorta let it go where it wants to go. There are places in my tank where it's nearly BB, others where the depth of the sand is easily 4-5".

IMHO, it looks more natural that way anyway.

You could try some slightly coarser sand as well.
