Where are you guys getting you frag shipping bags these days? I have an order I need to bag up for shipping.

What size are you using?

Thanks

what are you shipping?

for SPS frags I've bagged them in bags from Michaels (arts and crafts store) I think they were 3 X 4 for the smaller ones and 4 X 6 for largers ones. I usually triple bag. if shipping something sharper like a birdsnet i'd triple bag then put that bag in a ziploc as an added layer.

Specimen cups are also a great way to ship.

I had a similar package a few months ago, I batched them into pieces. so I put each frag into a small bag (double ot triple bagged) I think the 3X4 size then I took 4 of the frags in the bag and I put them in ziploc sandwich bags with a little tank water just in case there was a leak in the small bag they wouldn't go dry.

Then I took 2 of the ziploc bags and put them in a freezer bag and then put the freezer bag into a foam pouch inside a cooler box.

seems a bit overkill but 20 frags made it just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have seen some people using those bags that are heat sealed shut. Ive never shipped with them but have used them for other stuff. They are heavy duty, but not sure how much the machine is.

My LFS had this kid filling in one day. I decided to buy a frag and his packaging method seemed odd for a minute....but I quickly realized it was godlike. He got a square of styrofoam and rubberbanded the plug/rock that the frag was on to the styrofoam. Filled the bag with water, then plopped the frag in the bag upside down. The foam obviously floats, which keeps the frag always under water. Also, if the square of styrofoam you use is larger enough, it keeps the frag from brushing against the side of the bag too. Blow the bag up tight and secure it shut. Done and done.

I use this method along with the heat sealed bag. I also rubberband the outer bag and styrofoam so it cannot move in the bag and is always under water regardless of position.

Successful shipment of 14 frags from Houma, LA to DC metro area. No losses. Really happy my first shipment went so well.
