shipping corals

i've considered possibly trading some stuff online, but would need to ship the corals. mostly zoanthids...but I've never shipped a coral before. could someone please explain the precautions and materials that I would need. also where to get the materials. I want to see if it's actually worth shipping or not. Thank you in advance!

Personally I can not see spending $30-40 for shipping a coral unless its rare or it can not be gotten local.

Ask Coralfragger. He is a shipping pro.

I've received stuff from online, I know I've gotten them in oxygen filled bags inside a styrofoam box filled with styrofoam between the bags to insulate the bags.

I know the store Jaws does sell the styrofoam boxes inside a cardboard box, and heat packs (incase they need to stay warm for trips up north.)

Keith depending of what you are shipping and were is going I think the cheapest and most efficient way to ship a frag is in a kids thermo bottle, they are a few buck water tight and most important it will insulate against temperature.
Just pack the coral loose with some crumble pieces of plastic to prevent it from getting smashed filled with the tank water and ship.
2nd day usually works just fine, unless is a very delicate coral. make sure you pack the coral and bring it to the carrier as close to the business day as possible.

those thermos's look like an amazing idea. yea i'll be trading zoa's which i've heard are pretty easy to ship. inside that thermos would you have the coral in a bag, or just put them straight in there with some water? another thing i found interesting was when stores would ge in their shipments that some corals were upside down attached to styrofoam so that they would float and be under water always. I liked that idea, but don't know if it's necessary for zoas.
other question where would i find thermos's like that? publix?
