shoot-HELP need imput

Swanwillow

goby girl
my tank that has been set up since november has started leaking on the bottom corner (its a hex)

I need quick imput: take everything out and keep it in plastic tubs until I can find another tank for a decently cheap price?

let it stay in there with the slow leak? the wood stand is getting wet from this:its a slow leak thank god, but fast enough for me to worry. I can hopefully buy a tank thats for sale thats the same size from local-ish, but its going to be a few days at least. if not longer!!!

can I/should I but a PC light over my softies while they are in the tubs if I do move them? do I just keep an eye on things?

I'm getting two new fish today: do I set up my ten gallon spare tank that my sons freshwater fish are in (they can live in a goldfish bowl for awhile-theres one goldfish, and 4 zebras-the guppies can be acclimated to saltwater)

AHHHHH

and anyone know anyone up in northern MN with a spare 29 gallon tank laying around?

ok, so if I empty the tank out, the fish and the corals, and SOME LR and sand for the new fish (jawfish) can go in the ten gallon (I have 3 seahorses... then, it would be VERY over-loaded, but I can do 50% water changes as needed)

put the pc over it for safe keeping of the corals... the guppies can be acclimated to this setup.

the goldfish/zebras can deal with a 4 gallon goldfish bowl for now. I'll give them lots of cover so they don't stress out TOO bad.

keep the rocks in a tub, the leftover sand in that tub... the water in there too (to reduce the amount I have to re-make)

and see about getting my 55 gallon back and/or buying the other similar sized hex...

sounds good, right? AHHHH can't get the 55 back... its already been sold, so I'm waiting for a reply about the other hex.

dangit!!!

whelp-duh? its going to be like cycling

and now that I'm mostly done-the sand was gross. I'm getting rid of over half the water, I have 20-25 gallons mixing right now, had to do some quick-type water changes on the QT (which it is NOW) cause the tank water got icky from the sand AND I had to put sand in there cause of my jawfish thats in the mail.

god, its a bad day to have this happen!

so, what I have left to do: clean and remove the sand left in the tank:only about an inch and a half deep left in there. dump the rest of the water. decide where to put the rocks: they are in the old tank water, and its gross... I can always just rinse them off, put the sand in the tub that they are in...

and decide if the tank is salvagable. I have to FIND my tube of aquarium sealant thats around here SOMEWHERE after my boyfriend MOVED it... and I have to figure out where along the bottom the crack was.

OR, the chameleon would probably LOVE this tank./.. I can plant my hybiscus in there.... that would be pretty flippin cool. my azalea would be a nice addition to it also... and I can get a few more chameleons for it (they are the 'leaf' chameleon-ok kept in small groups in terrarium settings)

ok, so I've calmed down ALOT now... my heart isn't stuck in my throat. But, I do need a new tank ASAP!!!!

so my fish are here-acclimating to the tank water. The jawfish looks cool, I think the blenny will color up or something-right now its a funny red color. Unless they sent me the wrong type of blenny? we'll see how it looks later!!!!

now I need to go find eggcrate for the ten gallon, and hope beyond hope that I can get that other tank!!!

SOOO I calmed down

I'm going to try an re-seal the tank... I have the sealant, I'm getting the razors (BF getting them for me right as we speak)

I dried out the tank, and found out WHY it leaked: the old seals were SO OLD that I can pull them up with my fingers. SO, I'm going to be stripping out the bottom of the old sealant and putting in a good bit of new, lightly covering the side seals, to reinforce them. MAYBE re-doing the top, cause its in the same position as the bottom. I shouldn't have to take the tank apart for this, and I'll have my tank back and up and running by Friday.

Should I worry about the stand though? since its wood, it may have warped a bit, or something?I do have to clean the salt off of it. WHAT A MESS!!! at least each corner of the stand is re-inforced, so it should be ok... may add a nail to the corner that was leaking the worst, it came apart a little bit from warping. its still together, just looks scary!
