Despite my best efforts, something has caused STN, bleaching, don't know exactly what but I've lost several sps. Started when I changed salt to red sea coral pro. It mixes with a very high kH14. My tank runs at 8
I've seen some sps recede pretty far and then recover and regrow over there own skeleton. So I guess it would be your call on this if you think it's possible for it to recover.
I am cosidering the same thing, for the exact reasons. I have one coral, a tenui, that is showing STN. On my readings, this is caused by Vibrio, an infection.
Usual reccomendation is to trim off the dead tissue and skeleton. Cut across normal tissue so that you leave none of the dead skeleton, and the Vibrio, behind.
My tenui is too far gone, I think. If I trim, not much but a stump is left. I may just get ride of the whole thing. You may be luckier.
