Should I add RDSB

I have 5 gallon bucket of old sand and was thinking if I should fill this bottom part with it after it was well rinsed out. I would also like Chaeto but don't have room for and was looking at the tunze algae reactor any experience?

To be very effective DSBs generally need to be pretty large. I don't think that small section would do much for you, would likely just become a nutrient sink. You would also need to consider if this space would ever be disturbed, disturbing a DSB in a running tank releases all kinds of nasties into the water. I'd personally skip it.
