Hey guys,
Found a used setup on my local craigslist. Its a 60 gallon custom made all in one setup made by a local tank shop.
It measures 42x20x20. The sump in the rear portion of the tank is 5.5 inches deep so it has a decent amount of space back there.
its has drains on the left and right side of the tank for water to flow into the sump. one of the drains flows through filter media and then the protein skimmer before entering the return chamber where the return pumps are.
the other drain goes through filter media before entering the reactor chamber, then that side flows into the return chamber as well.
the protein skimmer is a aqua gadget skimmate ghost rated for 60-120 gallons. the reactor is made by the same company but is a bit on the small side at 350ml capacity.
after doing the math the return pumps turn the water over in the tank 9.3 times per hr, should be good enough.
i can get it for a decent price, a lot cheaper then new BUT my question is : Can these all in one systems be truly healthy?
the pics taken before he took it down had some series red algae problems. its looked pretty bad.
Im wondering if it was a user error or if something wasn't working very well? ( skimmer/tank design etc)
I dont want to buy a lemon. Its possible he lost interest and just let the whole thing go but also wondering if he couldn't get it healthy because the setup sucked basically.
Im a total newb and would appreciate any thoughts, thanks fellas.
