I have this macro algea growing in my tank. I was wondering if I should let it grow and trim it down when it gets big? I hoping its just a good nitrate/phosphate absorber?
That is suction cup caulerpa and it can be a very fast grower in your tank. Depending on what you have in your tank it would probably be best to get rid of it. Usually you will have to use manual removal along with something that will eat the leftover caulerpa.
If you like the look of it you can let it grow in a controlled area that can be easily reached. As it grows it will suck up phosphates, but you have to be able to remove dying leaves because they will release phosphates right back into the water.
