Should I QT tank raised fish?

I'm purchasing a mandarin, four banggai cardinals and five pajama cardinal fish to put in my 180 tank. I currently QT all my fish but the fact that these are tank raised and coming directly from ORA makes me wonder if I need to. I have to get them directly through my fish store and my plan is to have the fish store keep them in their shipping bags and not be exposed to their water as to not contaminate them. Any opinions on the subject?

Tank raised fish still get mixed with wild caught fish while in wholesale and retail locations. ALL fish need to be quarantined. The only difference with TR fish is the might be a bit tougher and not as likely to get sick, but they still do.

Do they get mixed with other wild fish at ORA? The fish I'm getting are coming directly from ORA and aren't going threw any other hands or any other water than the water ORA puts them in when they shipped out. The store I'm doing it through is a whole sale store and I talked to them today and they said they are going to leave them in the bag when they arrive and I'll pick them up that same day.

The question I ask myself. Am I willing to take a chance on whatever tank they are in is disease, parasite free. My answer is always No.

I'd say the odds are low with ORA, but not impossible. Personally, I would QT. At least observe for 4-6 weeks.

I use a separate "long term" QT for fish that I'm 95% sure are disease tree, where I don't administer prophylactic treatment of any sort. So far, I've only used it for diver's den fish. I have yet to hear of a single confirmed case of ich, brook, or velvet coming from them, though I did have a wrasse from them with intestinal parasites.

I figure it can't hurt to give the fish a month or so to get settled in a stress free environment regardless.
