Should I worry ?

Should I be worried about this guy ?

There are two of them that came with the used tank i bought.

He doesn't seem to do much but sleep under the rocks during the day, and hug rubble at night.

I saw a post on another board that they are sometimes fish agressive.

It's a 6" wide Serpent Star. The other one is 4".

I heard they were great scavengers so I like him for the clean up aspect. I just don't want to end up with an issue with him.

Thanks,

I have had one for almost 3 years now. I target feed him 3 times a week a thawed out piece of raw organic shrimp...my 2 clowns like to nibble on the piece first, it stimulates the serpent to come and grab it. He is real neat, if I tap on the glass, he comes out of the rocks to feed:)
Enjoy!

One more thing....If his middle looks sunken, he is starving..... the shrimp or crabs will come to grab his food, so target feed him where he can grab and hide into the rocks to eat ....I sometimes only feed him 0nce a week, depending on how he looks....

so i guess i can just pick up a large prawn or other shrimp from the fresh seafood counter and feed it to him ?

Can I weigh it to a piece of rubble and toss is under his rock ?

that is a green brittle star or better know as "the green death" they are probally the largest of the brittle stars. and are documented to eat small to medium fish and shrimps. i would get hin out of there if you have smaller fish.

Ouch. Mine is a brown star serpent. I use long tongs to feed it . I have 2 clowns and had shrimp that would pick at him..... I have heard of the green.....not fun to have.
Good luck!
