I have recently looked into carbon sources and their effects and have come to the conclusion that vodka dosing is not a good idea at all. Same with any single source of carbon as this will often cause massive imbalances in the strains of bacteria in your tank. If you want to use a nutrient reducer that is a carbon source I highly suggest you look into dosing the Zeovit ZeoStart2 instead. It has mutiple types of carbon sources in it that is much safer to use. With vodka it is very easy to overdose and have blooms that will depleted the O2 and crash your tank. Zeostart2 is much less likely to do this....
Seriously, vodka dosing is not worth the risk.....if you want nutrient reduction, do it the right way. Be that ozone, super skimmers, zeovit, or whatever...I highly recommend you stay away from Vodka.
