Show me your 150 HQIs

If you have a picture of your tank, with only the MH running (no supplementations), can you post it along with what bulb you're using. The reason I ask for pictures with no supplementation is because I won't be using any on my tank and I am trying to get an idea of what colors these other 150w HQI bulbs are putting out.
thanks!

If your looking for how much "shimmer" they produce...okay I can see that. If you are looking for how blue they look or the actual color produced by the light in any way...this will not work.

Keep in mind that colors from a camera could EASILY vary from what you see with your eye.

good point Titus- there are wayyy to many variables that would effect the look of the photo/light. I would recommend that you try to find some local reefkeepers in your area whose lights you can look at in person to get a more sound idea of what you are looking for.

just my thought

My thoughts exactly klepto. You see, cameras just don't see light like we do. This just isn't a good experiment IMO because any results will be skewed and tainted. I suppose someone could edit a photo to get it close...but cameras just don't work like that. How brightly lit the tank seems will also be wrong. I could make a tank dark and red or bright and blue with very little effort. The subjects in the tank will also differ in contrast (how bright they appear in relation to eachother) compared to what you will actually see with your eye. I could go on and on and on and on.

Do different brand bulbs provide different amounts of shimmer?

Yes, so do different color temps and different flow rates.

I had no idea ... so does a lower kelvin rating provide less shimmer, and a higher kelvin rating produced more shimmer? Or vice versa? And how does flow rate factor in?
