Show off your 40 gallon breeder

To me, there's something extra beautiful about a 40 gallon breeder reef and/or FO aquarium. Maybe it's the symmetry of the tank or just the extra depth of field it offers. For all of you who have a 40 gallon breeder tank, please post pictures .. softies .. LPS ... SPS .. or mixed reef ... even fish only.

Show us what you've got!!

Here ya go, still a young tank, but I like it ;)

Thanks eskymick, SpencerG, what all did you lose to gustav? and what specifically caused their demise?

I evacuated some corals and fish to my brother's tank in Dallas. The electricity was out for over a week, so just about everything left in the tank died (some montipora, acros growing on rocks, green star polyp, mushrooms, sandsifting starfish, a couple of fish and shrimp who foolishly refused to hitch the evacuation express, etc.). Thank God I thought to take the good pieces and whatever I could catch with us.

The only things that survived: bumble bee snail, nassarius snail, green palys (regrew), and green star polyp (curiously re-emerged months later after total die-off). It was nasty in there.

Since then, I have learned that folks who used the battery back-up, plug-in air pumps fared better with less losses than others. That will be on my hurricane plan for this year.

sorry to hear about your losses. even though we will never have a direct hit, we have been hit by the remnants of hurricanes (ie Ivan-lost power for 3 days). After reading the horror stories on here, i got my hubby to buy a generator (in his mind it would be for the house, my mind it was for the tanks :) ) anyway, two weekends ago, we had an afternoon shower w/ massive winds. i knew power would be out for a while. i made him go put gas in it, and i hooked up all four of my tanks!! he says "i'm glad we have the necessities plugged in, who needs fans, tvs, fridges, etc...plugged in " ---insert roll eyes on his part---- it was out for 6 hours, and the tanks did great!
