Show off your rare fish

lol I guess its the politically correct word ?

the ones I posted on last page are prety common, and dont fetch such high prices, but there are some hybrids that cost alot.

there are alot of info on them here by Copps and Luiz Rocha.

:
Isn't a hybrid just another fancy name for a mutt. Like paying $2000 for something foo-foo like a Yorki-Poo? :crazy1:

Yes a hybrid is just a fancy word for you paid a ton of money for a mixed breed animal like a idk say a red tail tiger shovel nose cat fish total hybrid haha

Allmost:

Those hybrids from Vanuatu -- what species do you think were the parents?

Unfortunate losses - really stunning fish.

I posted this in the rabbitfish thread, but by me at least these are kind of rare. Or at least finding one this small is. Took me about 3 months, 1 online order (that didn't survive, and was delayed like 2 weeks), and 3 stores to try and special order one, to find one under 4 inches.

All very nice fish, that angel is crazy! And as for the blue potters, I'd love to get my hands on one. At the moment I have a black niger foxface, juvi goldflake angel, and a kuiters leopard wrasse

wownice.

been chasing those for years it seems lol

I got lucky. First off, it's much smaller than all the others I have seen in person. Second, it had been at the store for 6 months when I stumbled upon it. Third, they accidentally charged me the normal swallowtail price despite me saying it was a "masked"....$60.

They've been showing up much more often lately... Not sure if it was in this thread, but someone mentioned that presently they seem more common than Bellus angels!
Very nice fish, especially if you add another small Genicanthus angel, so that it will turn male!

wow 60 bucks ehh ? did you buy lottery after? lol that was ure lucky day man !

how much do they usually go for ?

Ive been begging my LFS to get some in, with no luck ... just the usual swallow tail he had before Xmas. really hope to see a pair soon :) hope the trend continues up north as well Albano.

I'm pretty sure that they are $60-80 for females and ~$200 pair at my LFS...but I already have a trio of swallowtails/zebra and they won't allow a new comer!

For Melanospilos or Semifasciatus!?! That's crazy if the latter. The cheapest I have ever seen a female for is $150, most being in the $200 range. Males obviously being more, only ever seen a few and they didn't look good.

Absolutely Masked/Semifasciatus... They were in stock on Sunday!
In case you haven't seen some of my other posts , I have purchased a few 'rare' wrasses from them for under $100, that are hundreds more from other retailers.
People drive hours to shop there!

It's Maximum Reefs in Yonkers NY...Unfortunately, at this point, they don't ship...
On the weekend the parking lot has cars from NY, NJ, Ct, Pa, Mass, and who knows where!

Does Lou still run Aqua-Exotic?

Funny, you should ask...I stopped there Sunday, and was surprised to see a new name/sign on the building! Lou and Carlos were not there, and the 1 worker was busy, so I took a quick look and left.
He lives closer to you and I in Somers and closed his dog/puppy stores up here, so I'm wondering! I may stop there tomorrow.
