Getting ready to take the seahorse plungs. Likely goung with an Elos all in on cube. Looking for input on this and pics of current set-up that other are using --including stocking lists.

Thining about going with some photosynthetic grogorians and a few NPS's as well. Ideas?

Is the Elos quiet enough --or should i just build it from scratch?

From all I've read on the forums, "all in one tanks" can often get too warm to keep seahorses in. You want to keep temperatures between 68° and 74°F to control the deadly bacteria they have so much trouble with. That doesn't mean you can shirk the husbandry duties needed (much more than a reef tank IMO), also for that bacteria control.
I prefer all my seahorse tanks set up as species only tanks, using standard tall tanks including sumps with heavy skimming, bare bottoms, and artificial hitching. I use live rock in the sump for the biological filter.
I only have one tank with coral/macro so I can't really help on your stocking list

If you are planning on putting Nps and photosynthetic gorgs together, then you will need to consider how you plan to go about removing algae from the NPS, which you will definitely get under the lighting required by photosynthetic gorgs. One choice is the cleanup crew, but be prepared for the possibility of having to do it manually.

I agree, I have researched SH's more than NPS gorgs. Just reading about them now.

I am still balking a little at maintaining a second tank.
Taking the approach of just waiting for the right deal on the for-sale forums. Hoping to pick up a 39-50g cube and stand. Looking for one that is super sleek Reefsavvy/elos style. Balked at buying an elos outright due to single drain (i.e. loud and potential flooding disaster. What is elos thinking???)

My macro sea horse tank

My macro sea horse tank

It's a 40 gallon breeder plumbed with a 1" bulkhead that dumps into my Display tank and get water from the sump going through a UV sterilizer first. It has a couple of pieces of rock and 3 different types of calurpa in it as well as cheato, a gorgorian and a couple other Macro algae types. There is 1 coral banded shrimp, various snails, a common sea cucumber and saltwater ghost shrimp in it as well as a few bristle worms. there is a 1.5 " sand bed. The powerhead up top is a 250 GPH and the pump supplying water is a 500 gph but with a 5' head pressure it's much less also reduced from UV sterilizer. he was pregnant but had babies. All I managed to catch was 1 of em but it only survived for 4 days. he may be pregnant again, i'll know in two weeks
