Shrimp/clean up crew

Hey guys, I'm on week four of the cycle. The salinity levels have been great these past few days. (Going from 1.04-->1.024) I was wondering if it is safe to add shrimp in yet? I was thinking of adding a boxer shrimp for now.

I currently have a turbo snail, pretty big in size, and two red claw hermits, and a Sally longlegged crab. They have been in there for a week. One of the crabs has been there for 2 weeks. It's a smaller crab. I haven't fed any of them yet. They are most of the detritus and algae.

What algae? If the tank hasn't finished cycling I'm not sure what detritus and algae your livestock could have to eat. Please post your water test results. After the cycle finishes you should give your clean up crew four weeks alone in the tank prior to adding fish. Shrimp can go in once your cycle is done but you have to feed them.

What should I be feeding the shrimp? The rocks were covered with this green algae. The animals have been alive for almost a week. Can I just drop in an algae pellet for the crabs and shrimp?

I feed my shrimps and crab small bits of meaty raw seafood. It could be raw fish, clam, scallop...anything like that. Dice it up and keep it in the freezer. Later many of your fish will like it too.

I dropped in an algea pellet for the shrimp and the crabs in there. My tank is green algea free. I still see a bit of ditrius here and there. Lots of aiptasia though.

Where do you normally get your fish food? Pet store or...?

Shrimps don't eat algae. They are carnivorous. I have a skunk cleaner and a peppermint and they both take frozen mysis.
