shrimp in clam?

I was checking out my maxima with the red led flashlight. I noticed this small (1") shrimp sitting near the opening on the mantle. The shrimp has the body type of a pistol shrimp but transparent except for some small red dots. He was just sitting there and when I switched on the bright bulb he moved across the the clam and then went into it through the valve. The only shrimp I have is a pistol. My tank has never had another shrimp in it. I'm not sure where this came from. Has anyone ever seen a shrimp like that on their clam.

I hope it doesn't kill my clam.

it's a commensal shrimp and probably came with the clam, you just never noticed before. he is fine and will not harm the clam.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea. I will try to get a pic, but like I said, I have only seen it once since I got the clam from a fellow reefer several months ago.
