Shrimp on claims

I have a maxima in my tank and lately ive noticed my cleaner shrimp and peppermint shrimp constantly pecking at it i only see them on my tear drop maxima though. I also have a durasa claim and crocea in the tank both of which are fine the maxima on the other hand looks as if its stressed are the shrimp are eating it. Has anyone had this problem Im currently trying to catch the shrimp or im just gonna add a wrasse and watch him eat.

My peppermints checked mine out when I added it to the tank but haven't messed with it beyond that. As far as I know they shouldn't be eating it unless they are dead or dying.

Thats why im wondering if its something with just this one claim cause its the only one there going near the claim is barely opening now dont know if its gonna die or if the shrimp are just killing it.

They are opportunistic feeders. Basically, they aren't going to eat a healthy clam. You could try placing half of a soda bottle (with holes pokes in it) over it for protection. Good luck.

Well the tank is a 120gal reef
cal: 450
alk 10.5
mag: 1400
nitrate: so low doesnt really read
phosphates: .04
the tank has a 20gal fug which was just added and a 40gal sump also has a calcium reactor and i drip kalk on the tank. for flow i use a mag 9.5 return and 2 vortech mp40ws in the tank. as for fish and inverts.
I just removed a peppermin shrimp. So i have 2 peppermints left and cleaner shrimp and a blood shrimp and 1 emerald crab. For fish i have a purple tang 2 lyrytail anthies 3 chromis 1 bicolor blenny 1 green mandarin 1 target spot mandarin, just moved a pj cardinal. I think thats all my fish. plus a pair of sixline wrasses and a leopard wrasse

Also i have a massive infestation of flatworms in which im battling there not the coral eating flatworms just the ones that decide to cover all your rock and look really ugly

1 bicolor blenny

watch him, known clam nippers. if he has taken a nip at the clam mantle, the shrimp may be eating the dead tissue. try the pop bottle and see how the clam reacts. unfortunately if the clam is wounded and you don't offer some protection the CUC will finish him off.

unrelated but of concern...........

..............1 green mandarin 1 target spot mandarin........... plus a pair of sixline wrasses and a leopard wrasse

this isn't a good combination of fish as they are all pod eaters and the two mandarins are much slower and a lot pickier about what they eat. there is a good chance the 3 other pod eaters will deplete the mandarins food source.

HTH

the green mandarin i dont think will make it long looks like it has some infection but my target spot takes prepared food very well and has been in captivity for a long time now. ive never seen the blenny pay any interest to the claims but i will keep and eye on him.

by the way didnt menetion when the shrimp go at the claim there not messing with the mantel there going inside the claim the half the claim there constantly bothering doesnt not open fully anymore
