anyone have a tiger pistol shrimp in thier nano? my wife wants one because they look purple!! HAHA!! what do they eat? I am told they are reef safe but I dont want them eating my fish

Ive had pistol shrimp in my 55 for years.
I had a red one with a watchman goby for about 10 years and now have had the yellow and purple one for round 8 years I think.
I never had the tiger though.

I have snails and hermits in with it that seem to be ok but have always been leary about other shrimp in with it because I have had some disappear in the past. Does'nt mean it was the pistol though.
I'd say you could keep one and maybe a goby with it as long as the fish are big enough.
I also have percula clowns and a small mandarin in that tank that it never bothered.
I will say be prepared for it to scare the crap out of ya when you put your hand in the tank. Mine likes to defend its territory and snap at my hand. It's quite funny. Also when the lights go off it sounds like the glass is breaking lol.

Mine just scavenges for food like other shrimp.
It has a burrow in my live rock where it lives.

Tigers are totally, utterly, completely harmless IME. My orange-spot goby and tiger spend their days alternately renovating and surveying their work but never threaten the snails, hermits or fish they share the tank with. I've had them for more than a year and they've moved tanks in that time; no matter how small or easily-caught their roommates have been they've always been perfect gentlemen.

Here's a pic, how could these guys be anything but sweet? :D

really cool picture AC.
I never saw a tiger f/s but pistols hide alot.
Mine is a bullseye and as far as I know it has'nt ever harmed anything.
