Shrimps

Are shrimps classed as cuc or should they be classed the same as fish? I have a cleaner shrimp and considering adding a peppermint and fire shrimp.

Shrimp will clean up if something dies. But unlike snails or hermit crabs, they need specifically fed.

As long as you stay away from coral banded shrimp, you can keep different kinds, and groups of the same species are interesting.

Hope that helps.

Tbh I was thinking more of fish per gallon kind of thing. Would they be included in that formula? I know snails etc aren't.

I personally would not, considering they are on rock or the bottom of the tank the whole time. They wouldn't take away from "swimming space".

I do consider them part of the CUC in the sense that if I put pellets in my tank and they sink to the bottom the fish generally don't touch it once its on the sand. The shrimp will clean up though.

I consider my Banded Coral Shrimp part of the crew as I see him cleaning off corals, rocks, and even snail shells. Plus he eradicated my bristle worms which I wanted so he can also be considered a killer of CUC.
