Shrinking Mantle

This clam was recently moved from one side of the tnk to the other. It's alway's preferred to lay on it's side, but I sat him upright at the other end. The current is stronger at this end, but light intensity should be the same.

The mantle as you can see has receeded, and I'm not sure what to do. If I should dip, what type of water parameters should the FW be? I'll use RO water, but should the pH match. I'm assuming the temp should.

I feed DT's and MarineSnow into the tank daily.

are there any fish picking at it? YOu might want to move it up to the rock work.

I have not observed any of the fish picking at the clams.

It also appears that his foot has retreated. I think he's only 2/3 the clam he used to be.

18" deep, 4) 110w VHO's, I have had this clam for @ 4 months.

What kind of clam is that? Looks light it is starving and living off of tissue. Anenomes shrink when underfed as well.

I would also consider a fresh water dip if you don't see any improvement. (sort of a last resort).

he/she is holding tough. Looks a little better, the jury is still out.

Off hand bye my experiences I would say that maybe the water flow might be to high.....Was there a reason that you had to move it to the higher flow side?

Came home and he was a goner.

I had originally moved him because he was laying on his side on the other end, and a grogorian had decide to hang out right over him.

I thought he would be happier with the other clam.

I am sorry to hear the bad news.

You may want to keep an eye on your other clam.
If your clam had a disease it could have passed it on to your other clam.

After I disposed of the dead Maxima, I dipped the 2nd one. Didn't really like it, I guess that's a good sign. After a couple of hours in the tank, he's started to open. Hopefully by tomorrow he'll be fully extended again.
