Shroom puking

I just did a water change in my 29 gallon due to a high ph. I checked the PH after a couple hrs and it was an 8.2. I added some marine buffer and immediately after my shroom threw his guts up and all my polyps closed. Is this normal?

Shrooms will sometimes emit slime from its mouth when conditions change rapidly. A large water change can cause the puking from the sudden change in water temperature, pH, salinity, etc. If your temp, salinity, lighting, flow and pH are fine the shroom will be ok. They're normally very hard to kill.

Salt mixes also have buffers to help maintain pH. I'd be careful about using additives to correct pH, since a little can go a long way in a 29 gallon tank and would prefer more frequent water changes. Do you have any other corals in your tank?

just added some button polyps today..figured itd be fine to add some ph buffer, but maybe i tried to adjust the water chemistry too rapidly and stressed the lil mushroom out

and yea all water parameters are fine..it happened immediately after i added the buffer...he should be ok after a few days
