Sicce PK2500 pump hard to get open

Is there any advice on making it easier to open the sicce PK2500 pump? I can't twist or pull it off with only my bear hands. I have to get some pliers to get the darn thing off. ANy advice on making it easier?

Thanks,
Josh

Yes it is. I used the handles of the pliers and put them into the 3 fins on the bottom of the pump. It takes some force but it will twist off. I then use a small flat head to pry it up little by little on all sides.

Thats proablably the only way to do it. Thats what I do. Just be careful when pulling it out. I have broken the shaft before.

I just took a section of 11/2" PVC about 8" long and cut grooves in the end the same way as in the link above. works great and I had the pipe left over from something else zero $.

+1 great idea. Using the plier method is still hard when doing cleaning after your pumps have been running for awhile (with calcium deposit and silt from the bottom of your sump)

Does anybody out there have problems with the Sicce 2500 pump restarting after powering them down to clean. Mine are two years old and it's a big deal to restart them. It almost seems that the magnet is stuck in between a polarity field and won't move.

If you have a Dremmel you can make one easy. Like the link above. I used a 1 1/2 elbow and cut the grooves in it.
