Sicce pumps

So i finally got a working sicce pump and built my own threaded volute cover since the one i got didn't have threads. I then boared out the volute cover inlet like everyone else did, and its pulling 40scfh stock like this. I haven't had time to meshmod or make a good venturi but i was pretty impressed the thing did 40 practically stock. With mesh i bet it'll do 50 like this without a custom venturi. If so, i pry won't mess with it anymore after that since i don't need more than 40-50.

I use mine on a 8" diameter, 30" tall skimmer body as a recirculating pump.
Its... well... okay. It makes alot more noise when not under water, and its not exactly a cool running pump (horrible power factor actually). The seals hold though when running external... so it does work.

I hate it when threads get hijacked like this. This is supposed to be about Sicce PSK2500s. Not other pumps.
For the record, I have found modding the PSK2500s to be frustrating and unsuccessful. Drilled out the cover, properly positioned the air intake, redid the mesh 3 times, even used original ATI cover and water intake reducer ... can't get over 18lpm. As of now, seems I'm out $225. Will keep trying and some have offered to help but it is hard to figure out what is left to be done.
If I do get these pumps to pull over 20lpm I will certainly post that and how it was accomplished.

Quiet One pumps are made by Sicce... so they are topical...

I am no skimmer expert, as are many posting in this thread, but I got 26 SCFH (I have to search for the conversion to lpm) out of my first effort at modding a PSK 2500 by following recomendations made here and in other mod threads.
Again no expert, but I'd look at your venturi set up. Currently, I have to work out a restart issue and try fishing line instead of zip ties, but as for air to water, it's kicking but.
I certainly hope no one stops the flow of experiences, ideas and information in this or any thread.

Well, the company that has been working on my custom skimmer has figured how to machine the parts to pull 24lpm reliably on the Sicces. They'll be selling mod kits for the pumps, and the pumps, starting in the next few days. The pics I've seen are mind-boggling.
And I'll be getting a skimmer built to maximize the power of these pumps!

Diam 10"
Neck 6"
Chamber 22-24"
Cup 8-10".
Will have twist lock neck (I hope); gate valve; cup drain option; bubble diffuser plate. Gonna be sweet.
The ONE issue is, and it's a biggie: 2 Sicces or 3?
And will it work in recirc mode.

60-70 lph per square inch of neck diameter is the ideal. So 8" neck is good to about 3500lph. 6" is good just up to 2000lph. If you go higher (like 100lph/sq. in.) then you can have more frequent overflow problems because bubbles will get shot up the neck too fast. If you go too low, like 40 or less, then you will have problems getting everything into the cup, and you have to set your waterline too high, and you can end up with a very sensitive skimmer as well.
