Sick bubble anemone

Hey guys. I just bought this tank the other day and am wondering about the health of my bubble. Here's an ok pic of it last night.

This morning it's moved underneath the rock and isn't looking very good. It's all contracted and not extended at all.

Sorry for the really bad picture. I'll try to get a better one when I turn the main lights on. Also taking pics with an iPhone so they can only be so good.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tested your water parameters ?

When you say you have just bought the tank the other day, I'm guessing you had to take it down, move it, and set it back up.

That could have caused problems with your water parameters and that might be what your anemone is reacting to.

I'm taking some water to get tested tomorrow. And yes, I moved it on Tuesday afternoon. Everything else seems to be doing ok. I'll try to feed it today and see if that helps.

I wouldnt feed it just yet. It doesnt look to good. Anemones need an established tank. It probably was way too early to add the anemone.

I bought the tank with a clown, colorful wrasse and the bubble. It's looking better now.

At least it's opened up a little more.

Likely what happened was that when moving the live rock, it was exposed to the air just enough to get a little die of. Just enough to cause some problems

Really, 2-3 weeks before feeding? I'll leave it for now and see how he does. I also hope he pics a better spot to stay. Right not he's between 2 rocks so you cans see him that we'll and he can't fully open.

Yes. You want to give him enough time to make sure he is settled in and happy before feeding him. Taking down. moving, and setting up the tank again can be just as stressful to the anemone as moving him into a new tank. You really don't want to feed him until he's back to normal again.

Anemones can be fiddly things. They are full of water which houses algae they feed upon (as well as what you feed them). That is why they need light. You will find every few months they expel all that water (just like a water change) and they look sick. A few hours later they are back to normal. When a anemone is also is stress (eg bad water or a tank move) they also expel their water. As they recover they take the water back in.

An anemone will survive for a large number of months between feeds as it can get food from the algae that grows inside them. Some of my friends give their anemones little food as it will grow too big and their have survived for several years like this. Don't panick about not feeding....wait till it has recovered before doing so....if this takes a month or two so be it.
