Sick clowns

Hey guys,

So I bought 2 wild caught false perc clowns a week and a half ago. The story is as follows:

The clowns were bright orange and white at the fish store. Brought them home, slowly over the week they turned more yellowish and started to have more pronounced black shading from the top to middle (I have been told this is normal). The female does not eat and the male eats a couple pellets every few days. I have tried feeding them pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, and a chunk of some shrimp looking thing the fish store gave me. They smell the food and back off, or take a bite and spit it back out. I noticed they are pooping white stringy poo. The fish store gave me paragaurd and told me to dip for an hour once every other day. What else should I do? I want them to get back to their original color and to eat and be healthy.

PS. All water params have been perfect since I got the fish

Thanks :)

Fish don't eat for a multitude of reasons, illness being one. Tank mates, type of food, etc. I would try fish eggs or something like Cyclop-eeze.

They don't have tank mates. You think the most likely reason is because they don't like any of the food I have fed them?

i can't say i have ever seen a clown turn down mysis, however the stringy poop sounds like a bacterial infection. look at treating with Metronidazole but be careful with it, it is a strong med.

UPDATE:

Sorry I couldn't figure out how to edit my original post, but here is a photo of one of the clowns with the poop stuck to him

from what I see paragaurd is used for external parasites, I would return it and get something better.

just remember do not add this to your tank, any medical treatments should be done in a hospital tank.
