If your fish has ich, get a cleaner wrass or shrimp if you can. They will keep your fish alive for months. Still, in the end, if your fish are sick there is a reason. Your water is bad. Diseases live in all water, but fish on get sick generally when Nitrites or Amonia is detectable.
If you buy a sick fish 90% of the time it will die. I once treated my tank with an OTC remedy from the fish store... It killed every fish in the tank at the recommended dose. I would have been better off letting the fish die.
