Sick Hammer

I have kept euphyllias without any issues before. I have even brought sick ones back to life that were almost dead. But I got an awesome young hammer at my LFS and Im stumped on what to do. It was pretty well opened up at the LFS and it's bright yellow under actinic lighting. Since I added it to my tank it has declined very quickly. Only half of the tentacles are left. It had some kind of white slime on it that I assume is a possible bacterial infection. I dipped in revive to help it and moved it to a medium flow medium light area in the tank. I watch the tank parameters pretty closely and all my other LPS are doing great so I don't think it's a parameter issue. All of my SPS are also doing well and growing. Does any one have any advice on what I should do from here to stop the deteriation and get it to heal up? I'm not for sure on this but I think it might be a walling hammer. I will post pictures of it as it is later tonoght. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Any thoguths on what might have initially caused the deterioration? I know moving it from one tank to another and possibly already a little sick from the LFS but only after bing in my tank did I notice the white slime.

Without knowing your tank parameters and theirs, its hard to tell. Also is this a wall hammer, and did they just get it in?

Certainly has been done, but don't hold your breath lol. Throw it in the back somewhere and leave it be for your best chance.

How was the coral transported between LFS and your house? Most Euphyllia are very poor shippers in that their flesh can become torn by the calcium skeleton if it's pinched against a bag or cup. The issue with a wall hammer is that once a laceration has been made, infection can spread right up the coral with nothing to stop it, like a firecracker fuse.

I have started bringing betta cups or larger containers depending on the coral to my LFS to transport Euphyllia home. If they are on a plug, I mount them upside down in a Styrofoam block wedged against the top. If they are a larger piece like a wall hammer, I use a bit of epoxy to temporarily mount it to the bottom center of the cup.
