The short stubby tentacles indicate that your anemone is starving.
What are you feeding it and how often?
What are your water parameters?
Lighting?
Tank size?
Other occupants?

ok i feed it krill 2 times a week have chunks should i be doing a whole? also now that i does not have any tenticals it is hard to feed i have to put a plastic bowl over it so that none of the other fish eat it. and it takes a long time for it to eat it. my light is 4x65 watt 10,000k and 1x96 watt blue bulb. i have a 75 gallon tank. other fish are clown only one white stripe clown if you get that lol. what is ph 8.4 nitrite .25 ammonia .0 nitrate 2.5 phosphate .0 copper.0 calcium more like 500 not to shur. temp is 81 right now hot i know i dont have a chiller and it is hot out here lol. well that is it thanks also is a pic of the top and you can see the arms are gone and disinagrating will they come back? also the side of it keeps inflaming and getts big and then pinches and looks like there is a ring or rubber band around it?

Your most recent picture, I see that I can all the way through the anemone to the rock.
I don't think it's going to make it. Not likely anyways.
I think you will most likely wind up removing it's carcass from the tank in the next day or two as it continues to disintegrate.
In my opinion you don't have enough lighting to maintain an anemone, but that can vary on what type of anemone you have and where it's positioned in the tank and how deep your tank is and a lot of other things.
I keep my tank at 82 degrees and my anemones are thriving, so unless you have an anemone that's supposed to be a cold water anemone I don't think it's the temperature.
I feed my nems partial silversides, nice meaty things. I have heard of some people keeping the just fine with krill too.
Your anemone could have been slowly starving and dying from not enough light, and that process can take a while. I think it's likely that your refugium addition was just a coincidence with the final decline of your anemone.
If your white stripe clown is a maroon clown and your nem was very small it might have harrassed your nem to death. Also if your clownfish was stealing food from your nem during feeding time it might not have been getting any food.
I'm not an expert, these are just my opinions and experiences, and opinions are like *******s, everyone has one.

thanks man for the info ill have to get a set of mh what size do you think 175 or 250 x2??? and i think that it was my clown giving it problems......:( well i guess it is all somthing ill have to learn but thanks man.

I concur that it is not a temp problem (my tank is 80-82).

Lighting may not be ideal - but is adequate.

I wonder if anything in the new refugium (mini cycle?) could have contributed to that. Did you check Nitrite/Ammonia after the refugium addition or are the figures you mentioned before?

ok after hearing that the clown could be the prob i think that i was taking the food that i was giving it so starving was going on and also it is hitting and rubbing it all the time. at this point it is just a little thing like a ball and it is so hard to feed i have to corinten it with a plastic bowl and also the clown is bothering it i think. i moved the rock that it was one to the top of the tank and then it moves out of the plastic bowl which there was like 1/2 inch and got out and went under the rock. it started to look bad agian (worse) so i moved the rock and it is on its way back down again. straing huh well i guess i should just leave it alone. and yes the levels where just fine when i put the refug in. there was a lot of brown growth in the refug so i cleanded i and have the water falling into it like water fall and no more brown. thanks again guys

o and one more thing i made my refug with sand from home depot. i then orderd a refug kit with 3 lbs live sand 3 lbs live rock 1 lbs of chieto. all from a 3 year old tank that i got on line. also my salinity is well... was high for a long time like 1.03 for 2 weeks also could be the prob but it is lowering now with 10 gallon change i did last night. lol o yea and one more thing sorry but i live with a well water system and i put 5 gallon in cullagain bottle and then mix ocean mix and let sit for a day then add. i dont think this should be a prob since the water leavels are ok but just wondering? do i deff need a ro/di system?

Oh, thanks for the additional information of sand from home depot. I don't know if that's reccomended or not, but I would never do it. Who knows where that sand has been and what it's been cycled through. :o

i talked to a guy at lfs and he told me that it would work and i had ran it threw many gallons of tank water also. to clean or flush it out. the anemone is getting worse and worse. also there are no more arms or tentecls left. so how should i feed it? i think it is having a hard time getting the food down any help at all. thanks guys

I had a sick anemone that I couldn't seem to diagnose until Karen (finding nemo) helped me. I was feeding it shrimp, which it would initially take but then reject. I switched back to feeding silversides (in tiny portions) and even the short stubby tentacles would grab onto it. It's slowly recovering and I think it looked worse than yours does. (Look in my gallery, you can see what I mean.)

You may also be dealing with a mini-cycle from the new fuge. Anything showing up on the water tests?

mine does not even have tentacles left they are gone and it is so hard to feed and all the other fish are getting in and taking the food so i went with the plastic bowl over it lol sad...
