Sick sail fin tang

hey all! I'm new to this forum but need some advice!! I bought a juvenile sail fin on August the 2nd! He went straight into QT and never had a problem! No ich, eating well and a personality to die for! Love this fish! After 5 weeks in QT, I moved him into the main tank.... Still no trouble until 2 days ago! He's quit eating, and is just hanging out on the bottom and almost acts like he's having trouble swimming!? His color looks great and no visible signs of anything on him!! He's in a 65 ( yeah I know he will out grow) , with 3 other peaceful fish! No one is bothering him! Parameters are fine! No problems w other fish, and corals look great!! I've been feeding him algae based foods. I'm not sure he will make it through the night! Any ideas what's gone wrong with this guy?? : (

At minimum, all fish should be treated for internal parasites and flukes with Prazipro. It's effective and gentle on the fish. I would get him into QT and start treatment ASAP. IMO, 5 weeks is really not long enough for quarantine, especially if you are only observing. Fish can be carrying parasites without showing symptoms in that short of a time period.

I also feel that all tangs should be proactively treated for cryptocaryon (marine ich) irrespective of whether they are showing clinical signs. They are extremely susceptible to the parasite.

Keep an eye on your other fish as well. Hopefully it's just flukes or worms and he'll recover quickly. Good luck!
