I was never at any of their meetings, but we can make this club anything we want. I'm looking forward to seeing where we can go with this....and hopefully it's in a positive direction.

iceman5 - are you subscibed to thread so you get an e-mail everytime someone updates it??? I'm not getting e-mails every couple of days.

Count me in. Are you planning on keeping it in the valley with the meetings or all over the state like WRS?

I would like to try to attend. I don't live in the fv any more but I was born and raised in Oshkosh. Does that count? Im now your upnorth neighbor.

Welcome BryanJ and cyberlady. Everyone is welcome to attend. I think we were sort of hoping to keep meeting locations in the Fox Valley, but nothing is set in stone yet. Hope to see you in a few weeks !!

The reason we are kinda starting this club is for local reasons. I think most of us would join WRS but I for one am not driving down to milwaukee or some where further to see somoenes 10 gallon Nano :D Nothing against 10 gallon nanos of course but I think you know what I am trying to say.

What are we up to so far in members/attendees? The number has to be getting up there.

25 so far ! Not bad for not even having a meeting yet.

If 25 people is our starting number I would say this club should have been started like a long time ago LOL

Just think its just the begining of what could hopefuly turn out to be a serious establisment. :)

I know I saw something about when and where the meeting was but I don't remember where I saw it. Could someone post it again.

Pretty bad thing to say considering probably over 1/2 WRS meetings are held in the greenbay area.. Also considering almost every speaker wrs had was in greenbay, a couple in madison.. Not one speaker in the milwaukee area.. There is no reason not to belong too two clubs.. I think most of the madison area people have their own club too... A bigger club alows for more things like bringing in more speakers... Group buy's, more sponcers etc

Over half the WRS meetings are in Green Bay?? I just looked at the schedule for 2005 and saw no meetings for Green Bay. I saw 1 for Appleton and the others for Madison or Milwaukee.

As far as "no reason not to belong too two clubs", that's very subjective. There are reasons for some of us to not belong to two clubs and it's our choice. If you have the time and energy to be in two clubs, more power to you.

Wow what did I say to set you off?

Considering there only about 4 dates booked for 2005... Host a meeting.. The people who have run WRS have always tried to be fair in were meetings are held...

I didn't mean for it to come across that way....I just wrote it up in response to your post. Sorry for the confusion.

I think z28cam already stated that we started the club for local reasons....and you wrote that it was a pretty bad thing to say. I think some of us just want to meet with local reefers in our area and I don't see any harm in that. It's not meant to be a "rip" on WRS...it's just the reason the club was started. I don't think anyone said WRS was unfair.

Personally, between work, family, friends, reef keeping, and other misc things....I'd rather stick to our local group. I'm just speaking for myself here....others may attend both.

Cheerfully,
Matt

I never said it was bad idea to have a club.. My comment was about being a members of both clubs... Alot of us travel up to GB alot for WRS meetings... I just dont think his comment about Milwaukee was a fair comment... Almost like he was trying to talk people out of being a members of WRS. It is not Milwaukee based...
Matter of fact Eric Who runs wrs lives in sheboygan which is right in the middle
No one is forcing anyone to join anything...
