Signal filter

Hi.. what's the signal filter in my profilux control ???

I can adjust 1 to 10 !!

thanks

From the Profilux programming guide http://support.aquariumcomputer.com/english/section.php?sid=4

"2.10 Signal filter
Here you can set how intensely the measuring signals shall be filtered.
Permitted values are in the range from 1 (maximum filtering) to 10 (minimum filtering), standard is 5 (average
filtering). The stronger the filtering the more the display of the value is delayed. If the display of the measured value
fluctuates a lot (e.g. because of an electromagnetic interference or because the measured value changes indeed very
quickly), a stronger filtering makes sense."

So if your measurements are fluctuating widely, increase your filtering. I guess it puts a electronic dampener on the result much like a oil filled direct reading pressure gauge.

Another way to look at it, its the sampling rate at a certain amount of time, then the average of the data is collected.

I do not know the math in how Profilux calculates its analog data., averages, true median?
Most systems, its base on how many times it looks at the value for so many seconds, then it averages those samples and that is the number you see.

For those that do not know what true median is. If you sample 5 x ph samples within 5s.

7.3ph 7.4ph 7.7ph 7.8ph 7.9ph

True median is always the middle number from low to the high end, which in this case is 7.7 ph
