Signs that BTA is Sick?

Can someone tell me some things to watch out for to see if my BTA is sick. It recedes into its rock usually once per day? Is this normal? It hasn't moved to a different spot in the 3 weeks that I have had it, just recedes. Its mouth seems to be tightly closed most of the time but sometimes it gets all bubbly. I'll get some pictures on here in a little bit.

Here's one with its mouth open but not bubbly.

Here's one of the whole thing just now.

It doesn't look unhealthy. How long have you had it? Does it go into the rocks at the same time everyday? Are you feeding it?

It seems to always be in about 6:00 when I get home. It will usually begin to come out when I turn the 10,000K lights off and only the actinics are on. Then, when the actinics go out, it comes out more. It catches some mysis when I feed my clowns and I feed it a small piece of raw table shrimp about once a week. I will have had it 3 weeks on Friday.

It sounds like it is still getting adjusted to your lights. It is going into the rocks once it has gotten enough light and before it gets burned. Once the main lights are off it is coming back out. After it settles in it will stay out all the time. What type of lighting do you have and how long are they on for?

They're Nova Extremes HO T5. 96 watts, 48w of 10,000K Daylight, and 48w of 460nm Actinic. I've had them running about 14 hours which I guess is too long because I'm getting a lot of algae growth now. How long should they be on?

Since you do not have any other corals in the tank I would definately cut the photo-period to no more then 10 hours.
