Signs that RBTA is dividing?

if the conditions are good, the nem will close and seem to reopen w/ 2 mouths, and often take hours-days to split. (from what i've heard)

The foot is doing something funny. One side is puffing up a little more than the other, and there are little white lines (very little) on either side of the mouth of the anemone.

I hope it's not sick. :-(

Well, I had to leave to go out of town this morning, and when I did I still just had one anemone. :-(

A heart-shaped one, though. Maybe by the time I get home tomorrow it will have divided. I sure hope so.

Actually anemone splitting is a response to external stress (as suppose to conditions are good).

Mine closed up like a purse! then it moved, and move again and again. We got new LPS pieces and had to move some rock, well it moved again. Today I now have 2! We were hand feeding it and it got HUGE! now it is where we can not hand feed it. is that why it split?

it can be for survival (your water stinks, so it hopes that two have better chances than one) or because of good conditions--light and food are soo good it grows until it is two :)

hopefully its the latter not the former for you!

Mine is not eating right now and is still in a kind of heart shape (as if it's starting to divide from one side). Any chance it's still dividing? I figured it would be done by now.

If it's irritated, it will progress more quickly with splitting. When one of mine was near random flow powerhead, it split very quickly. Some sort of survival mode, so under stress it splts into 2 to preserve itself.

Mine looked like it was going to split then stopped for a couple days.
Then It puffed up & looked very odd the day before. It stretched it's foot across 2 rocks & started to pull .
After 3 hours, I went to bed. & in the morning I saw 1 where it always was & an identical one in a rock cave next to it.

They are both fat & happy now.

However, my Blue Tang is not sharing the love. The new anemone has taken up residence at the top of her "home". So every day the Tang backs into the rock to see if there's room for her to move back in ........ Poor thing ;)
