Silencing your water flow

Heya Jonah,

Depends on where the noise is coming from.

A few sources:

- High turnover rate - makes more noise going into and through overflow. You can decrease the pump return rate from sump. Side benefit is that you get better surface skimming action in the tank.

- Siphoning and flushing in the Durso - increase the size of air bleed. Decrease the pump return rate if necessary.

- Large height drop for water going into internal overflow. Raise the overflow pipe inlet opening.

- Water noise in the sump. Adjust the height of the drain line so the water doesn't splash a lot. Be careful of running the drain line deep into the water. Trapped air will cause a lot of gurgling in the sump. You can use a partially submerged drain pipe that has a bunch of slots cut into it to break up the water flow and release the air. Also can use a vent on the drain line at the sump.
