Depends on where the noise is coming from.
A few sources:
- High turnover rate - makes more noise going into and through overflow. You can decrease the pump return rate from sump. Side benefit is that you get better surface skimming action in the tank.
- Siphoning and flushing in the Durso - increase the size of air bleed. Decrease the pump return rate if necessary.
- Large height drop for water going into internal overflow. Raise the overflow pipe inlet opening.
- Water noise in the sump. Adjust the height of the drain line so the water doesn't splash a lot. Be careful of running the drain line deep into the water. Trapped air will cause a lot of gurgling in the sump. You can use a partially submerged drain pipe that has a bunch of slots cut into it to break up the water flow and release the air. Also can use a vent on the drain line at the sump.
