silicone dry time

I just resealed my aquarium, and was wondering how long before i can leak test it?

That seems kinda long. The silicone was almost dry when left yesterday.

What kind of silicone did you use? I'm putting baffels in my 10 gal for a sump. I think most kinds cures in 24 hours.

GE Type 1 window and door. I thought it was about 24-48 hours. So you think i will be ok to fill it this evening? Which will be 24 hours.

Seven days is a long time, and will be a sure fire fail safe. Most of the time the silicone package will have stated full cure times. Most of the time, yes, it is only 24-48 hours depending on how much you 'pile-on' the silicone. More silicone, more dry time....the outside will feel cured in a couple hours, but the inside that is not exposed to air is what takes the longest.

Cool. i think i will start testing it tonight then if things go as planned.

read the back of that label.i know the type 2 silicone is not meant for aquariums

Its Type 1. My plans wont allow me to fill it tonight. So it will be done tommorow. That will be better anyway.
