Silly Snapper

I saw my snapper swimming in my fuge. I thought it was funny so I taped it. I couldnt get this video to embed.

Time to take him out. I lower my refugium and take out the macro hoping he will swim out. I then tilted the fuge and he swam right into a fuge hole.

I feed him and he ate great. I then treated with furan. I think he will be fine.

To break the fuge I used pliers to break the areas away from the fish. This gave me room to file the plastic area around the fish. I didn't want plastic to snap and kill the fish. It took me about 5 minutes.

I also found out my two snappers are different species. I thought the dot was a gender thing. I will look at dive photos of then and always saw tons of blue line snappers without dots in a school and only a few with dots will be in the same school. I thought to myself there is no way the gender ratio is this large. I finally found out one it a blue line snapper one, a black dot snapper and they school together in the wild. Just some side information if anyone is interested.

Neat idea for a refugiem, I had a firefish get into the overflow in my old 40 gallon it took forever to get him out

The snappers are a cool fish and very active. Day and night. The petco by me had a 75% off sale because they were redoing their tanks. I got both of them for about $10.
The one with the dot is a Ehrenberg's Snapper. The one without the dot is a blue line.

I got the refugium at the dollar store. Its suppose to be a shower caddie. I think its a good idea as a feeding device for people with tangs and similar fish. No need to clip dry seaweed every few days.
