SIMPLE, inexpensive sump.

I'm considering adding a 10g sump under my 20g tank. This would simply be to house equipment, and add volume.
How do I do it?
The 20g is empty right now, so I could have it drilled, but do I need to drill the 10g as well? Do I have to construct baffles? If not, how do I direct the water in and out, etc.?
I've seen "DIY sump" plans, and they're all considerably more complicated than I can/would like to deal with (limited tools/time/money/space due to college aptartment).

you can just use the 10 gallon as is. Just put the drain from the overflow and return pump in it and you're done. Putting at least baffle in it will allow you to keep the water level steady in one area where you can house a skimmer and not have it be affected by evap.

Another question - what is quieter, an overflow or a drilled tank?
The tank is in my bedroom and needs to be pretty quiet.
