what bulb are you using for your refug? I think melevsreef.com suggested 5100k.

I am using the bulb that Melev recommended before someone found the whiter bulb on the internet. I didn't have time to wait around on the other bulb so I just picked up the one locally at home depot. Algae is growing fast: Here's a pic of it today:

Here is my homemade stand, canopy and chiller cabinet.

First week it was set up with the remnants of sandstorm but canopy doors are more visible.

Finally "finished" the stand. Got the trim around the lip of the aquarium. I think it looks pretty good. Gotta do something becaues there is a little bit of a place where water can settle behind the trim piece still.

Thats an amazing stand and hood. This is a little off topic but here is my hood i am building

Its made out of quarter sawn wood and will hold 2 250 watt mh retrofit kits, and 4 48" VHO bulbs

Looks like a real woodshop in the background there. I like the barn roof design. Do you have a matching stand to go with it yet? Or do you plan to build one later?

Marsfrogie...Can you send me the link when you first started this build? I am planning on building one for my 40g and I wanted to see how you started out.

Also what size wood and all did you use??

EWC88, what you see here is pretty much all of the progress pics I have on this build. The wood was rough cut red oak. We decked most of the wood down to 3/4". You'd be better off buying a cabinet building book from amazon or barnes and noble and trying to simulate what we did here. Like I said before though, I really don't much of anything about woodworking. It was my friend that did most of the work. I'll PM you a link to the album where all of my misc tank pics are.
