singapore angel

planning to buy a singapore angel
anyone has experience keeping them?
how reef safe is it? same danger as flame angel? or much riskier?
it might not take prepared food right?

Not so sure about the reef safeness of them, but definitely make sure it's eatting at the LFS. Many of them don't eat and die within the 1st few months. I've had 2. 1st one didn't eat at the LFS and never did. Died in 2 months. The 2nd one ate at the LFS. I QT'd it for a month, then in display for a month. One day, it stopped eatting and died the next day. They are supposed to be very hardy if a healthy eatting specimen is purchased. So, be very fussy with your selection. If it is constantly hiding or not eatting, leave it at the LFS. HTH

Nope.
But a very pretty fish.
I just got a small one and it is nipping Pocillopora and candy cane corals. There should be enough in the tank to support him for now at only one inch. Could be a problem when it gets bigger.

VERY difficult to get one eating. This was my third try.
Having killed two, i looked at dozens in the stores before buying this one. It did not have a pinched belly like most I saw, and was eating. After a month in QT/isolation it had fattened up a bit and is now in my main tank eating like a pig.

I was fortunate enough to snag one of these fine fish from a fellow getting out of the hobby. He sold me his 65 with all LR & livestock. Had never seen a Singapore Angel before, but I thought it was a nice looking specimen the first time I caught a glimpse. He was healthy, eating well and has been a happy camper in my 75 for almost two years. The previous owner only fed flake food as far as I know, but I feed frozen mysis, brine etc every evening as well. The Singapore really goes for the mysis. I have no sps, but do have a few LPS and soft coral. So far he has not harmed any of them. I see him picking at the rock occasionally, taking wormlike critters etc. Previous owner did have an sps in his tank but it was dead by the time I bought the set up. Never asked how or why it expired 'cause at the time I knew nothing about Angelfish and their reputation for nipping at coral.
