Singapore Angelfish

I saw this fish for the first time at a LFS, and fell in love with it. Now comes the researching part.

Is this fish reef safe at all? A few websites says it will nip at SPS and soft corals, what about LPS? I have an LPS tank with torch coral, hammer, open brain, ricordea, and zoas. Anyone had success keeping these guys in a reef?

I've kept them before. It nipped at SPS, nothing devastating though. It nipped a bit at LPS, but I didn't have anything real "fleshy," it left acans alone. I would expect him to eat zoas, but I dont keep any so Im not sure.

In your scenario I'd be worried most about the open brain and zoas. FWIW I have never had success with ANY angel and open-brains...too tempting I think!

One of the more likely to nip and not as hardy as a lot of other small angels IME, stay away is my suggestion.

Unfortunately, I think you should have included choice D. Wouldn't eat much of anything and did not adapt to captivity

We had one in the display tank at a LFS I worked at years ago. It destroyed a huge collection of LPS corals. It went after the elegance, hammers, and frogspawns. These guys either seem to do real well right off the bat, or refuse to feed and waste away.

Agree with SDguy. I've tried them twice. First one never ate at LFS, bought it anyway and two months later died. Never ate anything and hide alot. Second one was eattinglive blood worms at the LFS. I QT'd him for a month. He was eatting frozen brine, frozen mysis and flakes. I moved him to my display and he lasted a month. A few days before his death, he stopped eatting. They are very difficult to keep. Eatting seams to be the biggest issue. Oh, mine didn't boher any corals in the month I had it.

I agree it's a beautiful looking fish. Too bad mine loved to eat corals!
