Single clown or pair?

I'm planning on getting a clown fish in the next couple days. I was wondering will a single clown do fine by itself or will it be happier if it's part of a pair?

I always liked them in pairs but it can sometimes prove to be difficult pairing them, then again I have always been told they are fine solo. If they are for your 10g nano then I would do only 1.

I had a good LFS I went to at the time and the owner chose two clowns that might up and put them in their own tank for a week or two. Sure enough they paired and I took them home. You could try asking your store if they'd do that.

I bought my pair at the LFS they are much more interesting as a couple.

10 gallons is too small for a single clown.
