single clown shaking

I have been noticing my clown (single clown fish in the tank) shaking/ wiggling up against my overflow box. It is only in this spot and no other fish are around. I have read that this is a dominance thing between 2 clowns but it is puzzling to me that the only clown in the tank is doing this. Any ideas?

What kind of clown? Some clowns will try to host anything

As long as it's not flashing (like it's sick) I'd say it's normal behavior

It is just a regular ocellaris. I am kind of surprised it isn't trying to host the devils finger or galaxea that are just nearby.

I had a pink skunk host the corner of my tank right on the glass. Sounds normal to me

Ocellaris aren't ones to host things that readily. Clarkiis and Tomatoes tend to host anything from what I've seen. Is it ORA or captive bred?

:headwalls:

The only things clownfish can "host" are parasites!
The anemone or coral is the "host" who is "hosting" the clownfish.

All the clownfish can do is to accept an anemone, coral, flowerpot,... as a host, but he can't be hosting them.

It would look really weird to see a clownfish swim around with an anemone or coral attached to it, which is what you were implying by your incorrect use of the word :debi:

hmm. interesting. As long as it isn't a sign of anything bad, I will let it go. It is captive bred.
Is the overflow box shiny? In that case he may see his own reflection and react to that.

the overflow box is black

Semantics... I think everyone else knew what you meant...

My clowns are currently "being hosted by" my extra large magnetic cleaner that I leave on the side glass...

Totally normal behavior. If they are not hosted by a coral they will hang in the upper back of tank by powerheads and overflows.
