Single controller not working

I just received a 6100 and single controller today used. It doesn't have the book for the controller. I hooked up everything and the pump doesn't work. I disconnected the controller and the pump works. The two lights on the right of the controller light up, but the light on the left doesn't light. It says pump on. Since I don't have the instructions I don't know why it's not on. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I can email you a manual if you PM me an address. It sounds like simple problem, the foodtimer button is stuck. Wiggle the button a bit and make sure it isn't hung up on the body, it is a very snug fit in the hole and if it is pressed against the side it will hang up.

That is what I think the problem is. I just can't get it unstuck. I will try some more. Thank you for your help.

If you feel inclined to do so, the knobs pry up and off with a slotted screwdriver and then the screws on the back come off and you can open it and check it out.

I guess that is what I will have to do. I played with the button and it won't turn on. I just didn't want to void the warranty by taking it apart.

Oh by the way, does the lights on the right keep running while in the feed mode? I opened the controller up and there is corrosion around the feed button. What now?

Well, if it is only on the button it is not a big deal, it can be repaired. If it is on the board itself this is iffy. You can try cleaning everything with contact cleaner and compressed air.

I cleaned the board with contact cleaner. I used a brass scaper and removed the corrosion as much as possible. It still doesn't work. Do you sell replacement boards or do I need to buy a new controller? I will have our avionics department look at it tomorrow at work and see what they say. Thanks again for your help Roger.

That unit isn't very expensive, so it probably would only be possible to just buy a new one, I will ask though.

Good news Roger, I had our avionics dept. look at it and they fixed it. They soldier one of the wires for the plug and the food timer switch had 2 bad connections. I just hooked it up and it works.:)

Well thats good news, But Im still surprised that the unit had problems seeing that its only a month and a half old. But anways glad you got it working

I talked to the guy that fixed it and he said that saltwater can completely eat through soldier. The feed button has 4 connections. When I opened the controller, I saw only 2 connections on the timer and the other two were just sitting there. I didn't think nothing of it since there was no trace of any soldier on those connections. That's why i'm the mechanic and not avionics.:)
