Sirjohn's 92 Gallon Corner

Oh boy, almost forgot the good stuff:

120 lbs of Drs.FosterSmith Select Lalo Live Rock. Smells like teen spirit:

Part 2 of the rock. And an ASM G-1X skimmer (for sale btw), because I couldn't take it anymore:

Nice find on the 10g! I use a 5g HD bucket now, but i like the idea of this mini Brute. I personally would keep with the 10g, if you can find room for enough supplement to last the same amount of time. It would be nice to run on Autopilot for 7 days if you have to.

Did you find that bucket local?

Looks awesome! Nice work with the cabinet and fitting everthing!
Thanks Yellow.

Alright now we a rollin....looking good, that mini brute is very cool. How long have you had the live rock in there?[/B]
Pacific, I've had the live rock in there since Saturday morning @ 10:00 am. I've done a 100% water change each day, mostly because of the smell. It's in the low 90s here in Miami right now, and the rock is in the garage. The water gets pretty warm and it's really been speeding-up the die-off.

To be honest, I'm a little concerned that the water is getting TOO hot. During the hot days, the water is probably reaching 85 degrees (don't know for sure, because I'm at work). I know the good bacteria will be fine at this temperature, but I'm not sure about the life remaining on the rock. I don't want to lose all of it.

Thanks Husky. Yeah, I found the 10g Brute at The Container Store in that strip shopping center in front of Dadeland. I must have looked in that store for an hour before stumbling upon the Brute. I couldn't believe they made them in that size...

Here are some updated pics.

BTW, sorry about the broken links on the first page. I've emailed an Admin with new URLs to the original pictures.

Thanks for the comments guys. Luckily, I got the aquascaping the way I wanted it on the first try. It helps immensely to use really big rocks.

Did you only add reef sand to your fuge? Are you planning to add any Miracle Mud or anything if you haven't?
Pacific, I used Kent Marine Biosediment:

I had used it before in my 90 gallon with great results. The best thing I like about it is that it's very stable. Once it settles, it's hard to disturb it, so you can still go with high-flow-loving macroalgae like chaeto in your fuge without creating a sandstorm.

Whats wrong with the ASM skimmer if you don't mind me asking?

Hello Jon. The skimmer works great (bought it this past May), it just doesn't fit into the ADHI Model 20 sump I purchased (fits into the Model 30).

Jon, I just realized what you meant. When I said "I couldn't take it anymore", I wasn't referring to the ASM G-1X skimmer, I was referring to the smell coming from the "live" rock while I was curing it :)

Even though it was in my garage, it IS Miami in August, and the heat+the smell was EVERYWHERE. So to help speed things along, I dropped the G-1X in the Brute can. The stuff it was pulling out was amazing and the smell diminished considerably.

I wish I could have used it, but it simply did not fit inside my sump/fuge. The Tunze 9010 is a great skimmer, specially given its size, but I only bought it because the G-1X didn't fit.

Some pics of my new Litermeter III and extra remote pump. I'm still waiting for the last pump, which will make 3 (2 pumps to dose 2-part and 1 pump for top-off water).

And into the sump:

And here are some pics of the first residents. Here's hoping I don't have to make this an all-aggressive tank!

The GSMs took to each other almost immediately. No fighting, no nipping, nothing. Last night they slept together. I got real lucky...

Some new pictures as the tank matures. The Coraline has really taken off, despite a brief diatom/green algae "new tank syndrome" bloom.

Thanks reefing. Yes, both clowns are maroons, gold-stripped maroons to be exact. I'm with you, I love the darker-colored maroons.
