Six line and Mandrin?

I was just reading that a six line wrasse may out compete a mandrin for pods in the tank. Is this true? Is it possible to keep the two together in a 130 gallon system with a great pod population right now? Or will they wipe the pods out?

Tough call! Six-Lines are excellent hunters, and quickly move about the tank, picking at all the pods and worms. Mandarins are always in slo-motion. A well fed six-line may leave enough pods for a mandarin. Tough call.

I have them both in my 120. Make sure you get the Spotted Mandarine with the 6-line, I feel they are safer than the Striped ones. JD

I have them in a 75. With an adequate fuge that is always pumping out pods, they can both live fatly and happily (my 6 line does hunt a lot, but he also eats flake; and my fuge also supplements my mandarin's diet with mysis).

PS: What is a striped mandarin??? I think you mean a green one vs. a spotted?

you should be fine, the sixline should eat supplemental foods, even if you cant get your mandarine to eat prepared, and in that size tank there should be little competition
