six line behavior modification?

I have a six line wrasse that has become a terror. Recently I added two peppermint shrimp and it immediately killed them both. I had decided that I could live with not having peppermint shrimp.

When I first added the sixline wrasse I had a pair of perc clowns and everything was fine. I lost that pair of clowns to ich a couple months ago. Last night I added two new clowns and the wrasse was all over them. It became obvious that he wouldn't stop until they were dead. I started trying to catch him and while running from the net he would take time out to attach the new clowns. I ended up having to remove the rock and spending a couple hours to catch the sixline. The sixline is currently in the sump.

If I kept the sixline in QT for a month would it be ok to reintroduce to tank since he wouldn't have established territory or should i just send back to LHS?

He will most certainly not change. I would get rid of him asap. IME, most wrasses with that "pointy nose look" like sixlines or possum wrasses are not good playmates with similar sized fish, or crustaceans for that matter.

What is LHS? I know LFS but not LHS...

sorry I fly radio control helicopters and LHS is local hobby shop. I guess I crossed acronyms across different hobby lines! My bad.

HA! good to know. good luck with your fish, Ohio! A flasher wrasse (I especially like McCosker's) would be an excellent replacement fish, as long as your tank is covered, because it will definitely jump!

I had same problem, he became a relentless killer... murdered several inverts and fish, and COULD NOT GET HIM OUT OF THE TANK.

ended up totally taking all of my rockwork out (still tough to get him out) put him in the sump. he committed suicide shortly after being in the sump.

I will never buy another six-line. They are evil, and fast as hogshit.

he really was possessed by demons, his eyes would shine bright red and his fins would pulse, his body would writhe and twitch and he simply consumed everything and killed everything else, literally saw him grab a neon goby by the body and beat it against my LR until it died, it was brutal...

same problem right now with our six line

same problem right now with our six line

it killed a clam and is attacking our firefish goby... tried a trap but it was the only fish that would not go in it...

hate the thought of taking out the live rock and coral,, thinking of taking out the other fish putting them in a separate tank, and staving the six line until it will go into the trap..

any other suggestions..

My possum wrasse was relentless in attacking my firefish, and my threadfin cardinals. I just didn't feed the tank for a couple of days, only put food in the trap. Other fish went in, but my trap is manual so as soon as pig evil wrasse saw the other fish eating in there he went in. bingo -- first time he went in I got him!

where did you get that trap at I need one of those to catch a coral b fish

You can get a trap like that from F&S. I had one and it works like a charm.

I agree though...that sixline won't change. Get rid of him.
