Hi,
I just bought a six-line wrasse. I had him in QT in copper and he looked great: healthy and happy and eating well.
Recently I put him in my 20-reef:
- some LPS and SPS corals
- cinamon clown
- bi-color blenny
- coral banded shrimp
- serpent star
- various hermit crabs
About one week after I put him in, I noticed white spots and smudges on him. I naturally assumed this was Ich but it would be such a nightmare to get him and the other two fish out and into QT, I decided to wait and make sure.
The other two fish show NO signs of any infestation at all. The wrasse, however, has white smudges (maybe 4-5 on each side). He has no white spots on any fins. He is not breathing hard and he eats just fine. He eats my flakes, frozen, and also picks at the rocks. In 3 days, I've only seen him flash one time.
Tonight I noticed that his left eye has a white spot on it. Otherwise, the same. I can think of two possibilities:
1) Ich. (But then if he is so infested, why not the other fish? And why no other symptoms? Also, the spots don't look raised and they are more smudgy than they are lots of individual dots).
2) Maybe he's flashing on the rocks when I don't see because he's unhappy or stressed or something and he's nicking himself? This might explain his eye problem.
Any thoughts? I have read on the net that several other people have had similar symptoms with six-lines.
Thanks a lot!
